No communication, client ETH Link LED is not lit (2 of 2); Failed radio/cable

Potential Symptoms

  • No communication to message center display through EBRs.
  • Unable to update content or messages on the sign.
  • Able to ping the server radio but not the client radio.
  • Client radio ETH Link LED is not lit but all connections are secure between radio and Quick Connect (QC) and to controller.

Environment

  • Product Family: Message Center
  • Product: AF-3500 series, Galaxy Pro displays, GS6, GC6, GT6
  • Component: Ethernet Bridge Radio (EBR) client with dual gland QC cable
  • Control Systems: Venus 1500 v3 or v4, Visiconn, Venus Control Suite (VCS)

Cause

  • Failed radio/bad Cat5 cable.
    • Damage to radio cable including being cut, animal activity, etc.

Resolution

  • Replace radio pair.
    • Cat5 is part of the radio assembly and we do not recommend opening the radio enclosures in effort to keep them water resistant.
