September 2009 Intern Highlight
Kyle
Kyle of Colome, S.D. has been working as a sales intern in the Keyframe department since May. His main responsibility is to provide support to Keyframe’s Account Executive in the North Central Region. Other responsibilities include editing demo reels along with other production work.
Two major projects that Kyle has spent time editing content for are the St. Louis Rams and the Kansas City Chiefs. For these projects, he reviewed the video content that the animators created ensure that no logo or text fell upon the pixel breaks specific to each stadium. Kyle hopes to attend one of the games to see the content in live action.
"I am a huge fan of NFL," said Kyle, "being able to be a part of this project was awesome."
A future project that Kyle will work with during his internship is to provide support for the football games at South Dakota State University in Brookings, S.D. and Augustana College in Sioux Falls, S.D.
Previous to his internship, Kyle had no prior background in sales and was unsure of how well he would adapt to his position. Being able to incorporate his knowledge of media production with this role at Daktronics, he finds himself more open-minded toward the field of sales.
According to Kyle, it is important for students to leap at any chance they can to gain more hands-on experience outside the classroom setting.
"Classroom knowledge is good, but nothing adds up to the actual experiences you can get in the professional setting," Kyle said.
Upon completing his internship in December, Kyle will graduate from SDSU with a bachelor’s degree in Journalism with a specialization in Media Production.
