Past Intern Experience:
I had a fantastic experience as a Daktronics intern. It was a great introduction and overview to the company. The internship allowed me to see so many different facets of the company and gave me the opportunity to realize that sales was the route that I wanted to go with my career. Throughout the travel and countless opportunities that I encountered during the internship, I realized that Daktronics was a company that I wanted to start a career with. I feel that the internship gave me a great chance to grow up and step outside the box of being a college student and get real world experience that you cannot receive in the classroom.
How did the internship help in your current position?
The internship certainly gave me a direct path to the position that I am in currently. Throughout my internship I was given many opportunities to meet numerous sales representatives, managers and VPs of the company. Taking advantage of these opportunities and doing my best to develop a relationship with these people afforded me the opportunity to come on full time at Daktronics. There is no doubt that the internship helped me in my current position, as it gave me a better understanding of how business is done and how to talk to people in a professional and relevant manner. In the world of sales, it is all about relationship building and that was made obvious throughout my time as an intern.
Other Relevant information:
I would recommend the internship to anyone. While I was an intern I went back to my university and attended a career fair and did classroom visits to recruit for the internship. I felt so confident in what this internship provides that I wanted to give my fellow students at WSU the same opportunities that I had.
