College: North Dakota State University - Fargo
Major: Mechanical Engineering
Current title: Mechanical Design Intern

Current Work Experience:
I work in Video Products Engineering and my role is Qualified Research and Development Intern.

I do a lot of thermal testing and writing reports. I set up displays with different modifications and take the temperatures. I take the data that we have collected and write reports on my findings. With this I am sometimes able to fix possible issues with new product designs and save the company money. I have also been working on designing and putting together a new testing fixture to make some thermal testing go a lot smoother.

What attracted you to Daktronics:
At my college I had seen multiple presentations in my classes and talked to employees at job fairs to figure out just what Daktronics does. I thought it was such a cool company. I started noticing all the places that Daktronics had a hold in the market. Then after looking even more into the company and thinking about how proud I could be to work for a leader in industry I thought I would apply.

I really like the fact that there is a well established internship program. The setup for the qualified internship programs gives so many great opportunities and is really amazing for any company no matter what they do. There is never a dull moment and you are given many responsibilities as an intern.

Advice to interns wanting to come here:
You won’t be disappointed because this is a wonderful experience. You have to be willing to volunteer to help with anything and make sure you stay busy and always try your best to do a good job. This leads to more responsibilities, opening doors to more opportunities.
