Minnesota Twins :: Target Field

“As the Scoreboard Coordinator for the Minnesota Twins I have worked with Daktronics scoring and video systems for several years, first at the Metrodome and now at Target Field. I’ve always appreciated the reliability and support I personally, and both organizations, have received from Daktronics.

The first season at Target Field has been a huge success in many different ways. Certainly the integrated Daktronics video and scoring system is a big part of the ballpark’s appeal and provides a lot of game day information and excitement for Twins fans. Making those big, bright, colorful displays light up with informative data, graphics and animation is my job. And Daktronics just made my job, and the job of my operators, much easier with their new Show Control system.

First and foremost is the look and feel of the user interface. It’s very intuitive. When we made the switch from the existing Daktronics control system to Show Control, it was so easy to learn. It literally took less than an hour for our operators to become very proficient with the new system.

The ease of creating scripts with the new control system is another one of my favorite things. I save so much time creating scripts now, and it makes my job and that of my team easier. It is necessary prep work that needs to be done before a game starts. Now it’s so much easier to prepare for and operate during the game. Other features, like the smart buttons and customizable workspaces, also greatly improve operations. And those help ensure a better experience for fans and more value for sponsors.

There are always last-minute requests for text and graphic messages. Show Control’s updated text editing feature is really great. It makes it so much easier to create and edit text and graphic messages on the fly.

While we can see most of the LED displays from the control room, we like the monitor wall feature. It allows us to see, in real-time, the ribbon board that is underneath the control room and out of our view. I can see where this feature would be very helpful at venues where the control room is more isolated from the seating bowl. The monitor wall is also a nice tool that helps us countdown animations so we are ready to play the next piece of content in a very timely manner.

We are also very fond of the statistical system Daktronics has developed, with its DakStats and StatVision systems. Combined with Show Control’s real time data functionality, we can very quickly set up and display RTD frames.

Honestly, from day one, from the Daktronics side, the control and display equipment has been working great. We couldn’t be happier with the system and support we’ve received from Daktronics.”
