Soccer Stadium in South Africa Prepares for 2010 FIFA World Cup

The Challenge

Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium, which will host the 2010 FIFA Soccer World Cup games next year, chose both Daktronics and Spectrum, a Daktronics distributor, for the design, manufacturing and installation of two large LED video displays. The stadium wanted a quality, integrated solution that could display scores, live video and replays, advertisements and crowd entertainment during the international event.

The Daktronics Solution

Two Daktronics LED video displays were installed at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium by five technicians in just one week – a significant feat of engineering precision considering the challenges faced.
The displays feature LED video technology with all of the content management, software and control systems conveniently located in the stadium’s central control room.
