Messages Reaching Out
Christ United Methodist Church, Sciotoville, Ohio
The Challenge
"I like the versatility of the display. Thanks to the user-friendly technology, we can modify the message with the touch of a few buttons."
Pastor Frank James, Christ United Methodist Church
Pastor Frank James of the Christ United Methodist Church in Sciotoville, Ohio, along with his congregation, wanted to update their vintage 1950s outdoor signage. Since the church consolidated two congregations, the new location needed a new sign.
The Daktronics Solution
"We have received several positive comments about the sign from those in the congregation," says James. The church came together as one to make the possibility of the display a reality. With a large portion of the display paid for by the congregation, a new asset to the church has been added.
Placed in front of the building, the display is exposed for a high flow of community members to see. Since a high school is just across the street, the church wanted to acknowledge the graduates by posting a congratulations message on the display. James says "this helps foster a 'good-neighbor' feel."
The community is one of the values the church holds dear, and likes to promote youth events and welcoming messages using the display. Due to the easy-to-use technology James is so fond of, the church will also display the temperatures coupled with their welcoming messages for the community's convenience.
James has seen new faces in the pews since the installation, and due to this success, there will be training of others in the operation and programming of the sign. This will allow for further promotion of the church during the back-to-school season. "We will see many more new faces this fall and will be keeping track of this success," James says.
