In outdoor advertising, the key to any successful billboard is location, location, location. InSite MediaCom, LLC, a rapidly growing outdoor advertising company with over 1,500 billboard faces, knows and understands this concept well.
In early 2009, a highly sought-after billboard site opened for bidding along one of the busiest roads in Morgantown, West Virginia. Few billboards in the area combined with the location's proximity to the Interstate and the University Town Centre, (the largest shopping center in Morgantown) resulted in very competitive bidding for the site.
InSite MediaCom along with their sign development partner, Legends Media, landed the valuable site.
"The spot was great for the amount of traffic it sees alone—right around 40,000 vehicles a day," said Steve Snyder, president—Legends Media. "But it was definitely the formula you want when looking at going digital because the area doesn't have many billboards around."
The Daktronics Solution
After receiving quotes from several display manufacturers, the two companies' eventually chose Daktronics as their digital display partner. This wasn't the first time Daktronics and InSite worked together; InSite has purchased two Daktronics digital billboards for locations in Tallahassee, Florida.
"After taking a look at Daktronics track record, we felt comfortable with our decision and felt it was the best way to go," said Snyder. "We went live September 1, 2009 and everything has worked out great."
