Hotel Owner Saves $24,000
Red Rock Inn, Gallup, New Mexico
The Challenge
"The new display cut the monthly operating cost by almost 40%. That is a total of $24,000 saved each year."
Mr. Patel, Owner, Red Rock Inn
At the end of June 2010, the Red Rock Inn, Gallup, New Mexico, had just changed hands to Mr. Patel. This transition met a discouraging start, as just two weeks after Mr. Patel assumed ownership of the hotel, lightning struck and destroyed his 20-year old incandescent bulb sign.
In need of new signage, Mr. Patel approached their local sign company for help. Hinkley Sign recommended that they purchase a digital sign and offered to do a demo of a Daktronics display. After seeing how clear the display looked at the demo, Mr. Patel chose a Daktronics Galaxy® display. "Digital displays are far more noticeable to customers," said Mr. Patel.
The Daktronics Solution
After the installation, Mr. Patel realized what a blessing the lightning strike had been. "I looked at the past bills for the incandescent sign and compared them with the cost for running the digital display," said Mr. Patel. "The new display cut the monthly operating cost by almost 40%. That is a total of $24,000 saved each year."
The benefits continue to add up for the Red Rock Inn. "Since we installed the display, we have seen a 17% increase of guests," said Mr. Patel. "We are the only hotel in Gallup with a digital display, and we have really seen a huge difference."
