Where a Great Sign Means Getting Seen

The Challenge

Helfman Dodge faces Interstate10 in Houston, Texas, where life in the fast lane is right out the front door for general manager, Steven Wolf. He worried that other business signs that surrounded Helfman Dodge distracted travelers from his own business. With 200,000 to 300,000 cars that pass every day, Wolf did not want to miss out on an opportunity to make the dealership visible.

The Daktronics Solution

After interstate construction and consulting with Daktronics about what would make them stand out among other businesses, Wolf purchased a ProStar® 23 mm LED display through the sign company, 4D Signworx. The display stands tall with 8 feet by 28 feet of advertising space that dwarfs the distractions of other businesses. "Now we get the most exposure on the I-10 freeway," said Wolf.

Wolf said now they can "promote new and used cars, parts, body shop, logos, rebates and specials, and promotions immediately." With the new sign "people would say they saw the 60% off advertisement from the freeway. They did not even see us till we got a sign," he said. Wolf was also able to effectively reduce his advertising budget due to the new digital display.

Wolf was also impressed with "the size and the all the colors and all the things we can do with it." With 4.4-trillion colors at his disposal, no wonder the Chrysler automotive company was impressed with a photo Wolf sent of his new sign. Chrysler used the photo in a presentation to display the effective launch of a sales campaign.
