Fifty-Five Marquees and Counting
Frisco ISD Is Daktronics Premier Marquee Customer
Located about 30 miles north of Dallas is the booming city of Frisco. The current population is about 120,000 compared to being a rural village of 3,000 in the 1980s. Frisco Independent School District has grown by 10-30 percent each year for the past 13 years and to keep their school communities informed, the district has become a Daktronics premier marquee customer.
In 2006, Daktronics shipped three marquees to Frisco ISD. That was just the beginning. Dina Sellers of the Dallas HSPR sales team says, "I just entered the fifty-fifth Frisco marquee order the end of June."
Frisco ISD's Construction Technology Manager Kelly Doster joined the Frisco staff in 2007. He recalls, "During those first years when we were adding a large number of marquee installations to our campuses, we had incredible customer service. All I had to do was just indicate a need and Phil and Mary were all over it. The Daktronics compatible equipment and agile customer service were the reasons we stayed with Daktronics displays."
In the years since the first marquees were installed, the equipment and service processes have changed. "Now we have a license requirement to operate Venus® v4 control software," adds Doster. "Like so many changes in our economic times, I call Brookings instead of the Dallas office to set up a case and we’ll troubleshoot over the phone. Parts are often shipped to me and I go out to replace the part in a display."
Providing Frisco with a campus-wide service agreement is a priority. "They are in their fourth year of a service agreement," says Dani Galbavy, HSPR Service sales. "We want to set up our customers for success. After meeting with Kelly, we knew a service agreement was vital to increase response time and eliminate a PO each time he needed a technician to come on site."
Frisco's amazing growth creates unique opportunities for both the school district and Daktronics. Success travels full circle—positive front end sales, rock solid displays, quality and efficient service completes the cycle. "That's why I can't take credit for these orders," says Sellers. "Sure I handle the customer, contractors and installers, but it’s everybody at Daktronics who makes the sale."
