Digital Billboards Expand Opportunities
The Challenge
"Digital has improved significantly in a very short time. The technology has met expectations quicker than imagined and clients love the flexibility provided for communicating their products and services."
Kelly Rector, Sales Manager, Adams Outdoor Advertising Office in Ypsilanti, Michigan
The general consensus on digital displays seems to suggest that they are a commercial advertising medium and nothing more, but the technology behind digital displays can also benefit the local community, county, and region. Digital displays can post national AMBER alerts, FBI criminal bulletins, and more. Many cities and communities overlook these opportunities and are hesitant to allow digital billboards in their jurisdictions.
The Daktronics Solution
The city of Ypsilanti welcomed their new Adams Outdoor Advertising digital displays with open arms. The city understands that by permitting a technology that can be updated in minutes they are actually investing in their community.
The city owns the property on which the structure was placed, and, according to Shannon Bellers, real estate manager for the Adams Outdoor Ypsilanti office, the city realized the impact the project could have and played an integral role in the process.
"The anticipation and excitement from the city and community members made this project special," Bellers said.
According to Debra Locke-Daniel, president of the Ypsilanti Area Convention and Visitors Bureau, the displays are boding well for the community.
"The new digital displays are so attractive and have really increased the visibility of our community events. This opportunity especially improved the quality of communication that we never could have done on our own and we are excited about the possibilities this presents the community."
