The Challenge
When preparing to open a new Wendy's in Bismarck, North Dakota, director of operations Kurt Dilger wanted to take advantage of the store's location near highway 83, the busiest street in Bismarck, with more than 30,000 cars passing daily. Travellers have no direct access to Wendy's from the the highway, so Dilger was looking for a way to make the restaurant stand out to passing motorists and inform them about the store's specials.
The Daktronics Solution
Local sign company Indigo Signworks talked with Dilger about the advantages of a digital display. According to Wayne Walker, sales personnel for Indigo Signworks, when the sign was installed, Dilger was impressed.
"I have received positive feedback on the visibility of the sign. Kurt has done a great job utilizing the display, advertising products and informing the customers of what's new at Wendy's."
"I like that the display is easy to work with and there's no need to get up on a ladder and possibly hurt one of our employees. It also saves labor over putting up letters on an old readerboard. It has been a great addition to our new location and I would purchase more as needed."
Kurt Dilger, Director of Operations, Wendy's
Dilger said that the display has not only met their expectations, but even exceeded them, because the sign allows him to create graphics, something he wasn't aware he could do.
"It has many graphics that we do use, and we also create our own. We use the display to advertise new products and late hours, and we like to display holiday greetings."
"I chose Daktronics because of the quality of their displays," Dilger said.
