University of Sioux Falls Teams Up With Daktronics for New Sports Complex
BROOKINGS, S.D. – July 9, 2008 – Daktronics Inc. (Nasdaq-DAKT) of Brookings, S.D., announced today that it has been chosen to design, manufacture and install integrated scoring, video and sound systems at the new Sanford Health Sports Complex and Stewart Center gymnasium for the University of Sioux Falls in Sioux Falls, S.D.
Daktronics Sports Marketing (DSM), the in-house sports marketing agency of Daktronics Inc., has designed a unique business plan with USF which provides the integrated systems at no cost to the university. In order to implement its vision, DSM has generated approximately $1.2 million dollars in long term revenues by selling corporate partnerships on behalf of the university.
Integrated video and scoring systems will soon be found at numerous locations around the new Sanford Health Sports Complex, including Bob Young Field, which will feature a large Daktronics light emitting diode (LED) video display enhanced by a custom scoring display. Daktronics will also provide an auxiliary football scoreboard for the Cougars, accented with a full-color LED display, as well as custom stadium graphics.
“With the help from Daktronics and the vision of our University’s administration, our new video board will provide a unique atmosphere for our players and fans,” said Willie Sanchez, Athletic Director at USF. “It will also serve as an educational tool, providing our students opportunity to gain hands-on production and graphic design experience.”
Lillibridge Track will receive a new timing and scoring system, complete with an LED display that will show lane, place and time information. To add to the illustrious landscape, a double-sided, full-color LED marquee display will be installed outside the Sanford Health Sports Complex.
“The new video board and concourse graphics at USF will help create a game day atmosphere that will be unmatched in the NAIA,” said Chris Popowski, DSM Sales. ”We’re very excited to provide our advertising partners with exciting ways to promote their businesses as well as strengthening their partnership with USF.”
As part of its extensive renovation, the Stewart Center will receive a custom full-color LED scoring and message center, as well as custom concourse and gymnasium graphics. All the new digital displays will feature changeable messages and announcements to enhance the fans’ experiences and open new opportunities for sponsorship exposure.
In addition to the scoring and video displays to be installed in Sioux Falls, Daktronics will provide the university with multiple Sportsound® audio systems. Bob Young Field, Lillibridge Track and the USF soccer field will all feature the new systems, which will help keep every Cougar fan informed and entertained.
“The new integrated systems will provide athletes, fans, and sponsors a great game-day experience and help make the Sanford Health Sports Complex one of the finest sporting complexes in the Midwest,” said Matt Warnke, Daktronics sales.
The University of Sioux Falls and DSM appreciate the corporate support from the following sponsors that made the project possible: First Premier Bank, Midcontinent Communications, Sanford Health, Coca-Cola, Vern Eide Motorcars, Schoeneman’s, A&B Business, Gas Stop, Wells Fargo, Papa Johns, Fireplace Professionals, Lambert Heating and Air Conditioning, Novak Sanitary Service, Norberg Paints, Hy-Vee, and US Bank.
