University of Richmond Plans for 2010 Season with Daktronics Integrated Video, Scoring System

BROOKINGS, S.D. – May 24, 2010 – The 2008 Division I (FCS) Football Champions will have one more thing to shout about at the new E. Claiborne Robins Stadium at the University of Richmond. Daktronics Inc. (Nasdaq-DAKT) of Brookings, S.D., today announced that they have been chosen to design, manufacture and install a new integrated video and scoring system for the on campus stadium in Richmond, Va.
The large video display will measure more than 19 feet high by 35 feet wide. Featuring Daktronics state-of-the-art light emitting diode (LED) technology, the university will be able to feature live video and instant replays, along with custom animation and graphics, up-to-the-minute statistics, player highlights and in-game advertising for sponsors.
Flanking the video display will be two custom scoreboards. These, along with an auxiliary video board measuring eight feet high by 18 feet wide, will help Spiders fans keep up with the action. The university will also install LED delay of game and locker room clocks.
“The game day atmosphere will be so much better in the new stadium,” Director of Athletics Jim Miller said. “The new facility will provide outstanding opportunities to bring students, athletes and the community together for sporting events and other activities. The Daktronics equipment will help us fill the 8,700 seats for every event. It will be really exciting.”
The integrated Daktronics system will work well for the multiple sports played at the stadium. The new venue will also be home to Spider lacrosse and track and field teams. The easy-to-use Daktronics control system allows for seamless change from week to week. The one button technology provides easy entertainment for the fans and increased advertising options.
Daktronics LED video and messaging display technology offers a long lifetime with minimal maintenance and low power consumption, providing value and excitement for years to come.
