Sioux Falls Arena to Upgrade with Daktronics LED Video Displays
BROOKINGS, S.D. – Aug. 18, 2011 – Daktronics Inc., (Nasdaq-DAKT) of Brookings, S.D., will design, manufacture and install new light emitting diode (LED) video displays for the Sioux Falls Arena in Sioux Falls, S.D.
The arena, home of the Sioux Falls Stampede (USHL), Skyforce (NBA D-League) and Storm (IFL) will soon feature two large endwall video displays, each measuring approximately 9 feet 6 inches high by 20 feet wide and utilizing Daktronics state-of-the-art video technology with pixels on 10 millimeter line spacing. These new video boards can operate as independent displays showing single large images or be divided into multiple zones (windows) to show a wide variety of statistics, information, graphics, animations and live and recorded video.
“SMG is thrilled for the addition of this technology at the Sioux Falls Arena,” Terry Torkildson, General Manager of the Sioux Falls Arena, said. “The Daktronics video displays will elevate the fan experience to new levels.”
Also included in this project are a three camera replay system, transparent shot clocks, end-of-period LED light strips, hockey goal lights and locker room clocks.

The Sioux Falls Arena is a 7,500 seat multi-purpose arena in Sioux Falls, S.D. The facility was originally built in 1961. It is home of the Sioux Falls Skyforce basketball team, the Sioux Falls Storm indoor football team and the Sioux Falls Stampede hockey team, as well as a variety of State High School Championship events. Sioux Falls Arena has hosted the Men’s and Women’s Summit League Basketball Championship since 2009. The venue is managed by SMG.
