Daktronics Provides Endwall Video Display at Oakland University

BROOKINGS, S.D. – Jan. 8, 2010 – Daktronics Inc. (Nasdaq-DAKT) of Brookings S.D. recently installed a state-of-the-art LED (light emitting diode) video display inside Athletics Center O’Rena on the campus of Oakland University, Rochester, Mich.

“The new Daktronics display has exceeded our expectations and accomplished all of our goals in replacing our old system,” said Simon Dover, Associate Director of Athletics. ”We have received rave reviews in the short time the board has been operating as it has fulfilled our ultimate goal of enhancing the fan experience. The board provides amazing quality and endless game-day presentation ability. We haven’t even realized the full capabilities of the system yet.”

Home to Oakland Golden Grizzlies men’s and women’s basketball and volleyball teams, Athletics Center O’Rena now features a large 10 foot high by 30 foot wide LED video display utilizing 10 millimeter resolution. The new video board, mounted to the wall, can operate as an independent display showing single large images or be divided into multiple zones (windows) to show a wide variety of statistics, information, graphics, animations and live and recorded video. The new video system complements and is integrated with the existing Daktronics scoreboards and timing system.

“The video board is now the focal point of our facility, but not just from an athletic standpoint. It impacts every university or campus event that takes place in our arena,” Dover added. “Daktronics was an easy choice for us because of their ability to provide a turnkey solution not requiring us to rely on multiple vendors, their ability to fulfill imminent time restraints, their dedication to our project and their ability in helping us to visualize an end product by showing us a proven product already in place.”
