New Daktronics Indoor Systems Debut at College Athletic Venues
New Systems Helping Create Home Court Advantage and Added Excitement

The University of Hawaii’s new centerhung display one of many new systems Daktronics is providing for the start of this year’s indoor college sports seasons and beyond. Fans of the Rainbow Warriors basketball and volleyball teams enjoy live video and stats on the four large primary video displays. Their system also includes digital courtside displays.
BROOKINGS, S.D. – Jan. 13, 2011 – From Hawaii to New England, college sports fans are enjoying the start of the 2011-2012 indoor sports seasons with new Daktronics (Nasdaq-DAKT) systems in their facilities.
A new impressive four-sided video system now hangs over center court at the University of Hawaii’s Stan Sheriff Center, home of the University’s women’s and men’s basketball and volleyball teams. “The scoreboard helps create a new game experience for our fans with interactive features and promotions,” said Rich Sheriff, Arena Manager. “The new system is a significant upgrade and we’re appreciative of everyone involved who made this possible. Upgrades like these continue to make the Stan Sheriff Center one of the best facilities in the West Coast.”
A similar centerhung system was recently installed at Wright State University’s Nutter Center. “The fans immediately noticed the differences… a much brighter, clearer video display and the ability to display the score, time and real-time stats throughout the game,” said Andy Montesano, Manager Video Technology Services. “The fan interaction with motion graphics now makes for a very entertaining event.”
While some programs are upgrading entire systems, others are adding new components to existing systems. At Providence College in Rhode Island, Friars fans will see exciting graphics, animation and information on three digital scorer’s tables located courtside. Daktronics has provided digital scorer’s tables at nearly 100 college properties. The popularity of the technology has grown as fans’ expectations for access to live data have grown. The tables also provide great value for corporate partners with their highly visible courtside location.
Daktronics is not only providing information and imagery to large screens. The company’s IPTV (Internet Protocol Television) systems integrate smaller screens with larger LED displays into a powerful, venue-wide system. Venues like the University of New Mexico’s “Pit” and Louisville’s KFC Yum! Center use Daktronics IPTV solutions to manage and drive content to hundreds of LCD screens in suites, concourses, team stores and other areas. This season Rupp Arena in Lexington, Kentucky, will provide information to patrons and fans through a Daktronics IPTV system. Multiple screens will show video and replays, scoring, statistics and menu information.
