Lamar University Selects Daktronics to Revamp Football Stadium

BROOKINGS, S.D. – Aug. 24, 2010 – Daktronics Inc. (Nasdaq – DAKT) of Brookings, S.D., announced today that Lamar University has contracted with the company to design, manufacture and install an integrated scoring and video display system overlooking the school’s home field in Provost Umphrey Stadium on its campus in Beaumont, Texas.

The focal point of the Lamar Cardinals’ new system will be the Daktronics light emitting diode (LED) video display to be installed in the north end zone. This high-resolution display will deliver replays, game information and sponsor messages to the fans cheering on the Cardinals in Beaumont. The video board, measuring approximately 26 feet high by 51 feet wide, is part of the larger scoreboard configuration that will measure 48 feet high and span nearly 88 feet across. It also incorporates a custom numeric scoreboard, speaker cabinets with logo artwork, advertising panels, a unique Lamar University identification display, and camera platform.

In addition, Daktronics is providing Lamar University with a completely updated timing and scoring system that includes the proven All Sport^® 5000 series console, DSTI statistics interface system, the custom numeric scoreboard, a new set of delay of game clocks, and four locker room clocks.

After a twenty-year hiatus, the Lamar University Cardinals will field a collegiate football team for the 2010 season. After the costs of the program skyrocketed and attendance declined, the football team was dropped from Lamar athletics in 1989. But thanks to a sizable donation from Walter Umphrey and his partners at Provost Umphrey law firm, the Cardinals football team has received a fresh start this coming year, beginning with its soon-to-be newly renovated football stadium.
