Daktronics and Van Wagner Dorna U.S.A. Add More Colleges to their LED Scorer’s Table Platform
BROOKINGS, S.D. and NEW YORK, N.Y. – Dec. 7, 2009 – Daktronics Inc. of Brookings, S.D. (Nasdaq-DAKT), in partnership with industry-leading sales and marketing services company Van Wagner Dorna U.S.A., LLC, is supplying light emitting diode (LED) scorer’s tables and advertising sales services for four additional college basketball venues around the country.
Duke University, Louisiana State University, Providence University and University of Kansas will be adding more digital content to their facilities with
Daktronics digital scorer’s tables. Daktronics digital scorer’s tables showcase student-athletes, display real-time stats, recognize sponsors and promote upcoming events. With Daktronics 10 millimeter LED technology, the scorer’s tables display colorful graphics, messages, statistics and video clips with clear, vivid images. All four universities have recently upgraded their basketball facilities to include Daktronics video centerhung and ribbon displays.
“The Daktronics digital scorer’s tables are an excellent complement to the exciting atmosphere of college basketball for fans and sponsors alike,” said John Haegele, CEO of Van Wagner Dorna U.S.A.. “This courtside technology gives additional visibility to corporate partners while engaging fans with entertaining in-game content.”
In 2008, University of Kansas debuted more than 170 linear feet of court-level LED displays. This season the Jayhawks are adding 30 feet of additional digital inventory to feature sponsor advertising, promotions and game-in-progress information. The 200 linear feet of digital courtside technology puts Allen Fieldhouse at the top of the list of venues that incorporate the technology. According to Jason Booker, General Manager of Jayhawk Sports Marketing, a division of IMG College, the technology has generated 30 to 35 percent additional revenue over rotational signage used prior to 2008. “The best part is we can tailor signs to [advertisers’] budgets,” Booker said.
Jayhawk Sports Marketing also saves up to $50,000 annually by eliminating the printing costs associated with old-style rotational displays, Booker said. New copy and messages are created digitally and quickly updated by the firm’s in-house video group.
In total, Daktronics and Van Wagner Dorna U.S.A. have deployed more than 600 linear feet of LED scorer’s tables to some of the nation’s top NCAA Division I basketball programs.
“Van Wagner Dorna U.S.A. has the understanding and history of how to maximize the value and impact of our scorer’s tables on game-day,” said Ross Yanco, Daktronics Regional Manager. ”More and more colleges and universities are seeing the benefits to LED scorer’s tables. They are easy to use and add considerable value to sponsors and fans.”
