Daktronics Hoist Supports One of the World’s Largest Centerhung Displays at
Arena Ciudad de México

BROOKINGS, S.D. – March 8, 2012 –Daktronics, Inc. (Nasdaq – DAKT) provided an integrated LED super system for Arena Ciudad de México, México City, including one of the world’s largest centerhung displays that is supported by a Daktronics hoist system.

The centerhung display is raised and lowered using a permanently installed custom designed hoist system from Daktronics rigging division. Each of the four drums has a 1.09 meter (43") diameter disc brake with two calipers. These safety brakes are always “on” and require motor power to drive the scoreboard in the downward direction. This system, which incorporates the latest in hoisting technology and safety, will be used to support the display at varying elevations depending on the venue’s needs.

“With a project of this magnitude, the success was achievable due to great teamwork, great relationships and a superior product,” said Kyle Isenberg, Sales, Daktronics. “Arena Ciudad de México is, without exception, a world class venue with one of the largest centerhung systems in the world.”

The centerhung configuration alone includes 12 LED video displays and measures approximately 13.9 meters high by 23.8 meters wide (46’ x 78’), weighing approximately 68,000 kilograms (150,000 pounds). The two largest displays have 10 millimeter pixel spacing and measure approximately 11.1 meters high by 19.9 meters wide (36’6” x 65’6”). There are also two square displays on the ends of the rectangular centerhung configuration and eight additional displays – two each on top and bottom of each side of the structure. These displays show dynamic live video, custom animation, full-color graphics and logos, up-to-the-minute sports statistics, timing and results information, and more.
