Columbus Blue Jackets Feature Daktronics Dasherboard Display at Nationwide Arena
BROOKINGS, S.D. – Dec. 22, 2009 – The Columbus Blue Jackets of the National Hockey League (NHL) installed a digital LED (light emitting diode) dasherboard display at Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio. Designed, manufactured and installed by Daktronics Inc. (Nasdaq-DAKT) of Brookings S.D., the new display is one of only a handful of dasherboard type installations.
“We’re excited to bring this dynamic piece of inventory to the market,” said Cameron Scholvin, Vice President Corporate Development, Columbus Blue Jackets. “In addition to providing flexibility to meet the needs of a new segment of clients, it gives us an opportunity to maximize revenue from a premium inventory position and the ability to accentuate our in-arena experience.”
This unique type of display utilizes Daktronics industry-leading LED technology installed in the ice-level rink board and measures over two feet high by nine feet wide.
Daktronics flexible digital LED dasherboard displays add excitement for hockey fans by showing colorful advertisements, engaging crowd prompts and a wide variety of other interactive content. Daktronics dasherboard displays integrate seamlessly with other display or as a stand-alone unit. As a powerful marketing tool, they can enable team sponsors to reach television audiences with cameras focused on the ice level, providing revenue generation and entertainment.
“Daktronics is very excited that our digital displays have helped the Blue Jackets supply new advertising inventory for their customers,” said Will Ellerbruch, Daktronics Regional Sales Manager. “Our job is to help facilities like Nationwide Arena generate revenue and enhance the fan experience through the use of dynamic visual displays. We are extremely grateful the Blue Jackets trusted Daktronics with this installation.”
