Christian Music Festival Aims Higher, Bigger with Giant Daktronics Video Wall
GoVision’s “GoBigger,” Modular LED Panels Raises Spirits at Burleson’s IGNITE
BURLESON, TEXAS – May 4, 2009 – Rain-soaked crowds gathered for one of the Southwest’s biggest Christian music festivals were treated to a massive Daktronics (Nasdaq-DAKT) LED video display that would put most major rock concerts to shame. The IGNITE Passion, Compassion, Justice festival lined up a stellar list of performers and made sure attendees at the outdoor event had a great view of the acts no matter where they stood on the Burleson High School grounds.
The video units and related production elements were provided by Keller, Texas-based GoVision (www.jumbo.tv), one of the nation's premier suppliers of turnkey mobile LED screens and customized modular LED walls. GoVision most recently captured global attention with its giant LED units perched on the U.S. Capitol steps during President Barack Obama’s inauguration ceremony. Top Christian artists at the festival included Chris Tomlin, The David Crowder Band, Flyleaf, and Sanctus Real. Special guests Kirk Cameron, Francis Chan, Bethany Hoang, and Zach
Hunter also graced the stage.
Behind the performers stood a massive, three-screen video wall that gave concert-goers an extraordinary widescreen view of the acts throughout the day-long event. The LED wall included the giant 19’ x 33’ “GoBigger” unit – the world’s largest high-resolution mobile video screen – in between two brand new 9’ x 16’ modular Daktronics PST-12HD LED displays.
The video production allowed the three screens to operate independently and simultaneously, providing a dynamic, multi-media experience. Computer-generated graphics and other video elements were incorporated throughout the show via GoBigger’s on-site studio. GoVision’s production crew shot the festival using five mobile cameras, including two on-stage jibs.
“We wanted to create one of the most unique and exciting visual displays ever seen at a Christian music festival,” said Jeff Werner, Video Producer for the event. “GoVision not only offered the best equipment, but the outstanding production capabilities we needed to pull it off – even under some pretty severe weather conditions.”
“Make no mistake,” said Chris Curtis, CEO of GoVision. “The IGNITE Festival pushed the envelope on the application of cutting-edge LED technology at a live event. This wasn’t just big for the Christian music scene. U2 would have been impressed by this operation!”
The IGNITE Passion, Compassion, Justice event brings the CW Festival together with the International Justice Mission, a Christian-based human rights agency that secures justice for victims of slavery, sexual exploitation, and other forms of violent oppression. The event ran from 2 pm to 10 pm on Saturday, May 2, at Burleson High School, near Dallas, Texas.
